Huang Jin Gui (Golden Osmanthus) Oolong Tea
Brief Introduction to
Huang Jin Gui (Golden Osmanthus) Oolong Tea
Huang Jin Gui (literally as Golden Osmanthus) is a supreme variety of Anxi Oolong traditionally originated from Luoyan village in Huqiu of Anxi County in China’s Fujian province. It’s typically different from another supreme oolong tea —— Tie Guan Yin. Since Huang Jin Gui has extremely longlasting fragrance it is also called “Tou Tian Xiang” (Chinese: 透天香). It’s named after the yellow golden color of its budding leaves and its unique flowery aroma, said to be reminiscent of Osmanthus.
Similar to Tie Guan Yin, it’s also a slightly oxidatized oolong tea and has a very flowery, delicate aroma without the astringency of a green tea or the heaviness of a black tea.
