Brief Introduction to
Jing Ting Lu Xue Green Tea

Jing Ting Lu Xue (literally as Jingting Green Snow Tea) originates from Jingting Mountain, which is north to the Xuancheng city, Anhui province. Jing Ting Lu Xue is the most famous one among the teas produced in Xuan Cheng, the other teas include “Gao Feng Yun Wu” and “Shui Dong Heng Wen”.

As recorded in the local history “Xuancheng Record”, Jing Ting Lu Xue also had a long standing reputation as tribute tea for the royal family in Ming and Qing Dynasties. However, JingTing LuXue was lost in the late Qing Dynasty. While fortunately in 1972, the tea factory of Jingting Moutain started to recover, and in 1978 the tea production was resumed completely. Jingting Lu Xue has received a lot of honor, together with Huangshan Maofeng, Lu An Gua Pian and Taiping Houkui, honored the major famous green teas from Anhui province.

Jing Ting Mountain is called as “poem mountain”, and the Chinese great poet Li Bai wrote some poems about Jing Ting Mountain.

There are many legends about the origin of tea name “Jingting Lu Xue”, one of which is about a clever, beautiful, kind-hearted girl whose name was Lu xue, living in the mountain foot of Jingting. She picked the tea from Jing Ting Mountain every year to exchange some money for the heal and treatment of her paralysed mother. But the tea she picked only could be found in the steep cliff on the mountaintop. One day, she found a flourish tea tree of fresh leap and drops on the cliff, she thought if she could pick the tea on that tree, maybe she could got the money for the medicine of her mother’s treatment, while unfortunately, one slip, she fell off the cliff. The leaves she had picked in her backbasket poured out, falling like snowflakes in the air, rendering the mountain into green shadow. The leaves dropped on the land and instantly grew into the tea trees, and the valley became a tea garden. After that, Jing Ting Mountain never suffered the danger of picking tea from the cliff. To commemorate this kindhearted, diligent girl, the tea produced there is named as “Jingting Lu Xue”.
