Brief Introduction to
Qian Dao Yin Zhen (Silver Needle) Green Tea
Qian Dao (literally as 1,000 Islands) is a world famous resort, known for its attractive scenery. Qiandao Lake is in Chun’an town, which is encircled by 1,000 high mountains. Qiandao Lake is an ideal place for planting organic, green, pollution-free tea, the climate there is mild and humid, cool in summer and warm in winter. It is considered as the “hinterland” and “Golden Triangle” region of Chinese tea.
There is a long tea production history of up to 1000 years (Han Dynasty) in Qian Dao Lake. And in Tang Dynasty the tea produced in this area was presented only to the emperor as a tribute
There are many legends about the tea history in the Qian Dao area, one of which is about a couple named Jin Long and Mao Feng who lived there for generations, their house was near the Qian Dao Lake which is located in the middle of Anhui and Zhejiang provinces, every day a large number of passerby passed by their house, sometimes they felt thirsty and kindly asked the couple for some tea to drink. The couple was very generous and would love to make drinks, and finally all the tea leaves were used up. They didn’t have more tea to help the passerby! Fortunately, an immoral heard about and got deeply touched by their story. One night, he came into Jin’s dream and told him “there was a magic tea tree 6 miles east away this town”. When Jin waked up in the morning, he followed the immortal’s instruction, and really find a big tea tree. He picked some and made a cup of tea and tasted so wonderful beyond words! Jin Long moved the magic tea tree to his teagarden, and it grew very well. Year by year, more and more people knew about the story as well as the wonderful tea.
Qian Dao Yin Zhen Tea (Silver Needle Tea) got its name from the silver-needle-like appearance. When drinking, put 3g in a tall glass cup, fill it with boiling water, then you can enjoy a splendid scene of all the bud standing in the cup. Looks beautiful, and tastes great!
